About Belleville Choral Society

The Belleville Choral Society (BCS), founded in 1959, is a vibrant, volunteer-based community choir committed to sharing the joy and artistry of choral singing. With 70 dedicated voices, BCS provides a welcoming space where singers of varied backgrounds come together to learn, grow, and create beautiful choral music. Its purpose is simple yet meaningful: to bring the joy of choral music to its members and the wider community.

BCS proudly hosts Bellefest each November—a festival-style evening where local choirs gather to “sing for each other” and celebrate the diverse and rich choral community in the Quinte area and beyond. Collaboration is central to the organization, which has recently partnered with groups such as the Quinte Symphony, Brass Action, and A Cappella Quinte. Supporting young musicians is also a key part of its mandate, demonstrated through an annual scholarship program and the inclusion of youth performers in concerts.

The choir’s repertoire is intentionally diverse, ranging from Handel to John Williams, from jazz and musical theatre to contemporary Canadian compositions. Above all, BCS celebrates community, creativity, and the joy of singing together.

The Belleville Choral Society is directed by Heather Christiansen and joined by collaborative pianist Tom Dietzel.
